Supporting the Ice Dogs
The Washington Ice Dogs program is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that relies on donations and volunteers to provide a weekly hockey team experience to its players at a reduced cost to families. All donations are tax deductible. Donations offset the cost of practice ice, equipment, tournament fees and transportation. The team provides scholarships to players as needed. We believe that the benefits of special hockey are significant and we do not want the cost of playing hockey to prevent players from participating. Volunteers help with practices, fundraising and administration duties.
Donate
You can donate your time by volunteering. We also accept and deeply appreciate monetary donations.
$400 pays for an hour of practice ice
$250 pays for player season fees
$100 pays for new skates
$60 pays for a new helmet
$20 pays for a pair of socks
But we appreciate any amount, truly, from the bottom of our hearts. Every time one of our players achieves something they have never achieved before - even putting their helmet on for the first time - it's a big deal to us. And, not all victories show up on the scoreboard.
Other ways to help:
The Ice Dogs program currently benefits from a number of passive fundraising programs including CFC and Amazon Smile. Please consider supporting these fundraising efforts and sharing them with your contacts to maximize our success. Please contact us at icedogsmail@washingtonicedogs.org if you have other fundraising suggestions.
CFC
Federal employees, including those in the military, can choose to support the Ice Dogs in this year's Combined Federal Campaign, or CFC, of the National Capital Area. Federal workers can designate Special Hockey Washington as their charity for the CFC year and our team receives those donations. Federal employees have between September 1 and December 15 to designate Special Hockey Washington as the recipient. Our CFC title and number is: Washington Special Hockey - 82570.
